Support - Uninstall

To ensure a complete removal of SentVi (Sentinel Visualizer) and all its required software components from a Windows computer, please follow these steps in the specified order.

Step 1: Uninstall the Main SentVi (Sentinel Visualizer) Application
First, remove the main program. This ensures it cleanly disconnects from its database.

  1. Close the Program: Make sure SentVi (Sentinel Visualizer) is not running.
  2. Open Apps & features: Right-click the Start Menu button and select Settings. In the Settings window, click on Apps, which will open the “Apps & features” list.
  3. Find and Uninstall: Scroll through the list or use the search bar to find SentVi (Sentinel Visualizer).
  4. Confirm the Uninstall: Click on SentVi (Sentinel Visualizer), then click the Uninstall button. A confirmation pop-up will appear; click Uninstall again.
  5. Follow the Uninstaller Wizard: A specific uninstaller for the program will launch. Follow its on-screen instructions (clicking “Next,” “Remove,” etc.) until it is finished.

Step 2: Uninstall the Microsoft SQL Server Express Components
Next, remove the database software that was installed alongside SentVi (Sentinel Visualizer).

  1.  Open Programs and Features: Go back to the main Windows search bar, type “Control Panel,” and open it. Under the “Programs” heading, click on Uninstall a program.
  2. Locate SQL Server Components: In the list of installed programs, you need to find and remove several components related to SQL Server. To make this easier, you can click on the “Publisher” column to group all programs from “Microsoft Corporation” together.
  3. Uninstall Each Component: Find and uninstall ALL the following items that appear on your list. The exact year (e.g., 2019, 2022) may vary. You must uninstall them one by one.
    o Microsoft SQL Server 20xx (64-bit)
    o Microsoft SQL Server VSS Writer
    o Microsoft SQL Server Native Client
    o Microsoft SQL Server Setup Support Files
    o Any other item that clearly begins with “Microsoft SQL Server…”

Step 3 (Optional): Remove Leftover Database Folders
For the most thorough removal, you can manually delete the data folders after the software has been uninstalled. Warning: Do not perform this step if you have other software that uses SQL Server.

  1. Open File Explorer.
  2. Navigate to the directory: C:\Program Files\
  3. Find and permanently delete the folder named Microsoft SQL Server.
    Important Note on Microsoft .NET Framework
    The SentVi (Sentinel Visualizer) installer also checks for Microsoft .NET Framework. This is a core Windows component used by many other applications on your system. DO NOT UNINSTALL .NET FRAMEWORK, as doing so can cause other programs to fail. The steps above will not remove it, and you should leave it installed.
